Thurs 7th May: Clachtoll Coastal walk
Join us on this beautiful coastal walk through a crofting village. We hope to see many coastal birds as well as redshanks, curlews and peewits settling down to their breeding grounds. 11am-2pm. Meet Clachtoll Beach car park, NC040 273. Grade B
Wed 13th May: The secrets of Glen Leireag
Explore the lost township in the midst of this lovely woodland. Discover the secrets of this magical glen including freshwater pearl mussels, dippers and maybe golden eagles. 11am-3pm. Meet Nedd bridge, 3km east of Drumbeg. NC148 315. Grade B
Thurs 14th May: The Old Man of Stoer
Cliff top walk to the point of Stoer. Learn about the seabirds and hopefully watch the great skuas, peregrines and maybe even dolphins. We will get close views of the old man of Stoer. 11am-4pm. Meet Stoer lighthouse, NC005 328. GradeC

Wed 3rd June: The Bone Caves, Inchnadamph
A fascinating walk to the caves where bones of reindeer, humans and even polar bears were discovered - one of the gems in the North West Highlands Geopark. And visit the entrance to the new cave - the longest cave in Scotland with recent bear discoveries. 11am-2pm. Meet Bone Caves car park, 4km south of Inchnadamph, NC254 179. Grade C
Thurs 4th June: The Limestone valley of the Traligill
A fascinating walk through ancient limestone scenery, past secret caves, dramatic waterfalls and dry river beds. Learn how the earth moved in this part of the North West Highlands Geopark. 11am-3pm Meet Inchnadamph car park, NC251 216. Grade C

We will start with a short slide show about otters followed by a walk at Culkein and along the cliff top to look for signs of these common animals around our shores. We saw them last year! 11am-3pm. Meet Stoer Hall, 7 miles north of Lochinver, NC041 297. Grade B
Tues 16th June: Wildflowers of the limestone valley
Join us as we explore the limestone in search of flowers. We will attempt to go up as far as the Bealach looking for globe flowers, mountain avens, orchids and many more. And don’t forget those stunning views and golden eagles. 10am-5pm. Meet Inchnadamph car park, NC251 216. Grade D
Thurs 18th June: Stoer to Raffin Coastal Walk
Cliff top walk along magnificent scenery. Good chance of seeing dolphins, seabirds, seals and maybe otters. There is also some amazing geology to see along the way. There is no path. 11am-3pm Meet Stoer cemetery car park, NC040 283. Grade C

Thurs 25th June: Whale and Dolphin watching at Stoer lighthouse
A slide show at Stoer hall followed by a visit to the cliffs to watch for passing cetaceans. This event is part of the National Whale and Dolphin Watching Day. If the weather is bad this event maybe re-scheduled to the following day. 2pm-5pm. Meet Stoer Hall followed by a trip to the lighthouse, NC041 297. Grade A
Wed 1st June: In search of Black-throated Divers
Watch this stunningly handsome bird on a traditional breeding loch. Assynt is one of the strongholds for Black-throated Divers in the UK. Other birds we might see include ravens, stonechats, redstarts and more. 11am-2pm. Meet Assynt Visitor Centre, Lochinver, NC094 225. Grade B

Geisgeil near Scourie, for eels, with Chris Daphne, West Sutherland Fisheries Trust. We will be looking at Chris’s research project on eels including examining the eel traps and doing some electro-fishing. British Pteridological Society visit to Assynt. A follow-up to the visit by Dr James Merryweather last September, to be based at Inchnadamph. Provisional venues are the Stronechrubie screes and/or lower slopes of Canisp on the Saturday and Loch Borralan or Cam Loch on the Sunday. All the walks are led by one of the Rangers. It is important though that you think of your own safety and that of any children for whom you are responsible. Remember too that these are country walks in the Highland weather so please dress accordingly. Bring sturdy shoes, or boots, a picnic and a sense of fun.
The Rangers reserve the right to cancel any of these events.
Walk Grades: A is easiest, D most challenging, including very rough ground and sometimes steep climbs.
Sorry these walks are not suitable for dogs.
